COMMUNITY

From as far back as I can remember I have been actively involved in my local community. Among those groups, committees and so forth I have been involved with over the years are:-

1st Clive's Own Scout Group - Instructor and committee member.
Chamber of Trade - Promotions officer.
Carnival Committee - Committee member for over 20 years, announcer on carnival day.
Welshpool Partnership - Board Member
Festival of Transport Committee - Committee Member.
Welshpool Air Show - Committee Member
Winter Festival - Secretary 2004 - 2010.
Town Council - Town Councillor from 1999 - 2012. Lost my seat in the elections in May 2012. Served on all committees and Chaired the Events Committee. Looked at putting my name forward for the vacant seat on Castle Ward to be elected in September 2012, but decided against this.
Oldford School - Town Council's appointed  School Governor 2008 - 2012. Had to step down when I lost my council seat but still support the school when I can.
Communities First Oldford - Community member for a number of years and the last chairman


Current Community involvement:-
Royal British Legion - Member. Played a major part in the branch's 80th anniversary celebrations in 2010. Currently Branch Delegate to East & Mid Wales District.

Oldford Active Tenants & Residents Association - Committee member (past Chairman).
Get Going Gang - Committee member and volunteer of this summer play scheme for children.
Senior Citizens Party - Since 2010 I have organised a New Year party for the Senior Citizens of the town which has a capacity attendance each year. Friends prepare the food and I always engage a mystery guest star to entertain them along with myself and maybe a supporting act.
Cae Dai Trust: Currently doing all I can to promote the work of the trust and market their 1950s Museum in Denbigh, North Wales. See the blog on this.
Sparks - a national charity that I support which funds research into children's health issues.
Marie Curie: Committee member. Organised a celebrity golf event for them for past two years, next one Sun 13th September 2015 Lakeside Golf Club.
